  In Outdoor Portofino we are committed to finding an alternative solution to conventional team building experiences, still focusing on traditional objectives, but in a completely different context to transform this activity in an even more immersive one. Then, after analyzing several options, we chose to focus on orienteering, a sport born in the Scandinavian countries at the beginning of the Twentieth century. During the activity, the participating teams have to field their skills to explore unknown places, reaching the final goal before the other competing groups. It is a good opportunity to explore new territories, but orienteering is also the ideal activity for team building because it brings the participants together, pursuing a common goal, just like in the work environment.

In Outdoor Portofino we have introduced different types of Orienteering: in the street, in the woods and in mixed paths, different programs full of outdoor team activities designed to suit all types of groups (and companies) intercepting the most disparate needs. Let’s discover them together!

Street Orienteering

A mute map, a compass and a pen: here are the ingredients of our street orienteering in the maze of the genoese old narrow streets called ‘’caruggi’’ and in the charming villages of eastern Liguria.

After receiving all the necessary equipment and listening to a brief introduction of the activities from our guides, participants can immerse themselves in the adventure that will lead them to discover an unusual side of the historic center of Genoa and the villages of Santa Margherita, Camogli and Portofino. At Outdoor Portofino street orienteering you learn, discover and interact with the environment and with your teammates while having fun!

Marine Orienteering

The same concept of orienteering on land, but this time in the marine protected area of Portofino! Participants will be provided with a kayak or a sup, a paddle, a mask, a map and a compass. Our guides will show the teams the route to reach their goal in the shortest possible time, before the other competing teams. A mix of sport, teamwork and fun in the beautiful setting of the Marine Protected Area of Portofino.

What better way to consolidate your work team than by diving into the crystal clear waters of the Ligurian sea?

ORIENTEERING CHALLENGE: A TEAM BUILDING COURSE WITH AN EXTRA GEAR

For the more adventurous teams who want to add some adrenaline to their experience, we have designed this solution: a combination of classic orienteering and survival activities that can take place in the Portofino Park, in the Levantine villages, or in the caruggi of the Old Town of which the iconic Genoese songwriter Fabrizio De Andrè sang.

The Outdoor Portofino orienteering challenge is a team adventure, a real immersive experience in which teams must reach predetermined stages using only a map, a compass and their instincts. Each stage includes a test that teams must pass, such as building a shelter, lighting a fire or identifying paths.

An adrenaline and fun activity that allows participants to experience the territory in an unusual way, learning to work in a team and honing the sense of orientation.

But it’s not over! We have designed another fun activity in nature that can be the alternative to a classic team building course… And we did it using the paddleboard!

Sup, paddle, water games and fun: this is what animates the Outdoor Portofino Sup Games in the clear waters of Paraggi Bay.

There are many activities on the program: from relay games to games of dexterity and balance, from water games with the ball to swimming… All while enjoying the breathtaking views of the Bay of Paraggi, a gem set in the Ligurian east coast, right near our headquarters in Niasca!
