Description
A hike that will allow you to explore a unique corner of Liguria, far from the crowds, amidst breathtaking natural views and a rich cultural heritage.
From the famous village of Portofino to the hidden one of San Fruttuoso: join us in exploring these spectacular glimpses of the Genoese coast, and embrace the outdoor for good philosophy, for slow and conscious tourism, regenerative for both the person and the environment.
An adventure immersed in the wild beauty of Liguria, this guided trek from Portofino to San Fruttuoso di Camogli is an unforgettable experience that combines nature, history, and breathtaking landscapes.
Starting from the town of Portofino, a small corner of paradise overlooking the Ligurian Sea, famous for its picturesque harbor and the narrow streets lined with colorful fishermen’s houses, we will have the opportunity to explore the wildest part of the park, the one overlooking the Protected Marine Area. We will immerse ourselves in trails that ascend the promontory, through maritime pine forests and Mediterranean scrub, until we reach San Fruttuoso di Camogli, an ancient village that houses one of the most evocative abbeys in Italy, surrounded by a postcard-like landscape.
Following the outdoor for good philosophy, which is the core mission of Outdoor Portofino, every outdoor recreational activity, when properly managed, can make a difference in valuing the nature we pass through.
The hike is not only a physical journey but also a journey through history. Along the way, the guide will tell you local legends, curiosities about the Portofino Natural Park, and the wildlife that inhabits these lands, such as wild boars, roe deer, and a wide variety of birds. The panorama, ranging from the blue of the sea to the lush Mediterranean vegetation, will surprise you at every turn.
Once we reach San Fruttuoso, we will have the chance to take a break for an aperitif and leisurely enjoy typical Ligurian focaccia and a local wine bearing the “Triple A” label (Agricoltori – Artigiani – Artisti), an Italian label that guarantees the quality and naturalness of the wine offered, as well as a low environmental and social impact from its production methods.
Those who wish can visit the beautiful abbey that stands between the rocks, accessible only by sea or on foot, or take a break for a swim in the crystal-clear waters of the bay.
The hike ends here with the possibility of returning by boat to Camogli or Portofino-Santa Margherita Ligure (at the discretion of the participant) if the marine weather conditions are favorable. If boat service is not guaranteed, the guide will be available to accompany the group back to Portofino or Camogli on foot.

Portofino Park
The Natural Park of Portofino, the northernmost protected area of the Western Mediterranean, shows some of the most mind-blowing and celebrated landscapes in the world. The Park includes the municipalities of Camogli, Santa Margherita Ligure, Portofino and, considering the contiguous area, also the municipality of Rapallo. Made up by giant conglomerate deposits overlaying limestone banks, the promontory features geomorphologic and microclimatic characteristics that, in a relatively small area, create extremely diverse environments. Here the fresh Apennine woods of the northern slope are only a short walk away to the sunny Mediterranean landscape and the steep cliffs. Just a few steps separate the different farming cultures associated with chestnut and olive groves, from the sea-related activities and traditional fishing. Protected since 1935, the Park hosts one of the largest floristic concentrations in the Mediterranean, a remarkable variety of birds and invertebrates, as well as an important historical and architectural heritage.
